Lancaster Rec’s Open Streets

May 17, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Open Streets Lancaster, presented by Lancaster Rec, temporarily closes the streets linking Culliton Park to Mayor Janice C. Stork Corridor Park (Water Street and James Street) to motorized vehicles on a spring Sunday afternoon so that you can use them for healthy and fun activities. Our Lancaster event joins more than 90 Open Streets initiatives in the United States and Canada.

People traffic replaces car traffic – and the streets become ‘paved parks’ where people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can come out and improve their physical and mental health.

Open Streets Lancaster is different than a block party or street fair. It is part of a broad effort to encourage physical activity, re-imagine the City as a place to walk and bike for transportation, help people meet and steward meaningful social connections.

Open Streets Lancaster creates eight blocks of safe, car-free streets so that you and your family can walk, bike, blade and skate and get to know your neighbors and local businesses. Also, this is a dog-friendly event!

We hope you’ll join us this year and enjoy your City from a different perspective. The best part? It’s FREE!

Please contact Audra Landers (alanders@LancasterRec.org) for more information.
